The pictures look cool, but trust me, the product is garbage. I just finished putting together a chrome mod for my Nintendo DS lite, because I was tired of looking at the white one, and it was getting really dirty in the seams, etc. I bought a “shock DS lite buddy” mod online thinking I’d try it out. OMG this thing is cheap garbage. The finish already looks like it was sideswiped by a semi truck just from me manipulating it around the motherboard and screens. Not to mention that I had to shave pieces of the mold off to get the various parts to fit together in the first place. At any rate, I’m keeping this together just long enough to take a picture, and I’m putting my old, dirty white cover back on…

Next up, plastic quality… Not only is it cheap feeling but the mounts for the screws are not tapped. In other words, when you first screw in a part you have to drill your own threads with the screw. Just hope you do it right the first time, there’s no going back when you’re grinding through cheap plastic.

The experience wasn’t all bad, I did get a 3-pointed star screwdriver out of the deal, which I needed to fix another unit anyway.

My wife agrees, now it feels like a cheap plastic toy from Dollar General, instead of a Nintendo DS. Oh well, back to the drawing board. At least now I can clean off the soda spills from inside the old case!
